Robbery: July 17, Golden Gate Park
A woman was sitting at a gas station at Lincoln Way and the Great Highway when a man ran by, with another man chasing him while yelling "Stop him, help me." One man had robbed the other and took off running with the victim in pursuit.
The woman at the gas station started following the suspect in her car. At Fulton Street, the suspect ran into the park, with the woman now in pursuit while on her cell phone telling the police where she was. The police dispatcher warned the woman not to follow too closely but she said: "It's too late for that."
After the woman had chased the suspect for nine blocks, a police cruiser suddenly arrived on the scene with its siren blaring. When the officer jumped out of the car, the suspect put up his hands and surrendered.
The suspect was arrested and booked.
Narcotics Violation: July 12, 1:15 p.m., Richmond District
An officer on patrol pulled over a driver who committed a traffic violation. The driver had a suspended license and was in possession of several types of narcotics so the 21 year old from Oregon was arrested.
Resisting Arrest, Vandalism: July 11, 4:30 p.m., 3500 Block of Sacramento Street
A man was walking down the street mumbling to himself and swinging a tree branch at business windows and passerbys. At one point, the man banged on a car and held the occupant hostage.
Officers located the man several blocks away and attempted to detain him. The 24-year-old suspect stood there with a blank stare on his face and his fists clenched behind his back. When officers tried to detain him, he resisted, but was finally subdued.
Because of the man's altered mental state, he was transferred to a hospital for psychiatric treatment.
Attempted Robbery: July 11, 11:45 p.m., 24th Avenue and Lake Street
Four people were walking down the street. Walking ahead of them was one suspect, behind them were two more.
Suddenly, the suspects started to converge on the group, with the suspect who was in front pulling a ski mask over his head and simulating he had a gun.
After the man in the mask demanded money, one of the intended victims shouted "Let's get out of here" and the four took off.
The suspects were described as males in their early 20s.
Felony Vandalism, Public Drunkeness: July 7, 12:20 a.m., 200 Block of Second Avenue
A report came in to dispatch concerning a man who was walking down the street vandalizing vehicles. He bent the windshield wipers on three vehicles and broke off the side mirror on another.
Officers located the 45-year-old suspect and took him into custody.
Armed Robbery: July 6, 12:10 a.m., 23rd Avenue and Geary Boulevard
A lone person was walking down the street when two men approached from behind, produced a handgun and demanded the victim's property. After getting cash, the suspects, both described as males in their early 20s, fled southbound toward Anza Street.
Burglary: July 6, Between 12:30 and 3:40 p.m., 500 Block of 27th Avenue
An unknown suspect(s) gained entry to a residence by prying open the front gate and door.
A camera, jewelry and cash were reported missing.
Indecent Exposure: July 3, 1 p.m., 3900 Block of California Street
A juvenile girl told her mother about a man who had exposed himself to her. The girl pointed the suspect out to the mother, who called police.
Officers arrested the 58-year-old suspect.
Vandalism, Public Drunkeness: July 2, 1:45 p.m., Golden Gate Park
Officers responded to an area near the AIDS Memorial Grove regarding a male who was ripping apart a fence and threatening to expose himself to the person who was calling the police.
A 42-year-old male, who was under the influence of alcohol, was arrested for making lewd sexual remarks and ripping apart a bamboo fence, which he swung around like a sword.
Armed Robbery: July 2, 9:05 p.m., 200 Block of Walnut Street
Two suspects armed with a handgun approached a woman walking on the street and demanded her phone.
The woman complied and the suspects, both being described as being in their early 20s, fled.
Robbery, Burglary, Possession of Firearms, Possession of Stolen Property: July 1, 12:40 a.m., 2000 Block of Clement Street
Two suspects wearing ski masks entered a business with handguns drawn and demanded cash and jewelry from two people inside.
After getting the loot, the suspects fled the scene.
The two victims ran outside yelling for help. Several citizens started following the suspects while dialing 9-1-1 on their cell phones. One suspect was captured at 21st Avenue and California Street, where a gun was recovered in his waistband. The second suspect was taken into custody at 15th Avenue and Geary Boulevard. A gun was located on his person as well.
Officers also captured two suspects in a get-away vehicle trying to flee the scene. The three males, in their late teens and early 20s, and a 22-year-old female, were taken to the police station and booked.
