Now that a southbound lane of the Great Highway has reopened near the SF Zoo, officials at the California Coastal Commission (CCC) are considering a plan to shore up the bluff under it before the next big storm surge hits and undermines the important highway once again.

Sunset Resident Discovers Watercolors in Second Career

On a recent Saturday, artist Susan Grote welcomed visitors to her 43rd Avenue home. Standing in her warmly-lit kitchen, dressed in black and wearing thick-framed glasses, she spoke with people who had braved the rainy weather to attend her San Francisco Open Studios exhibit. Watercolors covered the walls, spilling over onto bookshelves and freestanding screens - the result of 10 years of painting.
