Academy Volunteers Find
Satisfaction in Helping Others Grow, Learn
Jerry Dow, a retired San Franciscan, has been a docent with California
Academy of Sciences for more than 11 years. He was one of the first
volunteers to take Highlight Training, which is a program designed to
give visitors an overview of the exhibits in the museum. Dow then went
on to become a docent because of his love for science and his desire
to make an impact in the community.
Local Professor Publishes New
Book after Spiritual Exploration
Type in the name "Steve Georgiou" for a Google web search and the London
pop singer Cat Stevens comes up because his birth name is Steven D.
Georgiou. Coincidentally, a Sunset District native's name also comes
up because, like Cat Stevens, he was born with the Steven Georgiou namesake.
And, like Cat Stevens, the Georgiou from San Francisco has followed
a spiritual and creative path.
