Plans to Replace Doyle Dr. Debated at Presidio Meeting

On Wednesday, Feb. 15, the San Francisco County Transportation Authority (TA) held a public meeting at 135 Fisher Loop in the Presidio to address the upcoming plans to retrofit Doyle Drive, the elevated on-ramp that connects the Marina District to the Golden Gate Bridge - and San Francisco to Marin County.

Imagine an elementary school where every student that walks its hallways has a green thumb.Every adolescent knows how to use mulch, can identify beneficial insects and is happy pulling weeds.

As amazing as it sounds, it's not a fantasy. It exists at Ulloa Elementary School in the Sunset District, where all 508 of its students are budding gardeners, thanks to a model program called the "Hands-on Botany and Gardening Project," sponsored by the Ulloa Children's Center at the school.
