          Break up Sex Rings at Three Sunset Homes 
          San Francisco police have shut down three houses of prostitution 
          since January catering to Asian clientele that were operating in the 
          Sunset District.

          and Park Eyes Open Space Funds to Fill Deficit 
          Top officials at the SF Recreation and Park Department have decided 
          to close a gaping hole in their budget for the upcoming fiscal year 
          by raising program fees and dipping into funds that could have been 
          used to acquire open space properties for the City.
        Development Threatens 
          Polly Ann, Other Businesses  
          In an effort to save the existence of three one-story neighborhood businesses, 
          concerned residents in the Sunset District are appealing an April 25 
          SF Planning Commission decision approving the future construction of 
          a four-story retail and residential apartment building, with nine housing 
          units.
        Forest Hill Muni Station 
          Nears Landmark Status 
          The Forest Hill Station cleared a significant hurdle on its way to becoming 
          San Francisco's Landmark Number 231 when the SF Planning Commission 
          unanimously passed a resolution May 2 to award the station the coveted 
          status. The Muni station's fate now rests with the Board of Supervisors 
          where a vote is expected sometime in June.
        
        First Book in Works from 
          Mild-mannered Accountant 
          Until now, Russell Rowland has toiled in obscurity as a mild-mannered 
          accountant.But the Sunset District dweller's first novel, "In Open Spaces," 
          published this month, will change all that. The absorbing story concerns 
          30 years in the life of an eastern Montana homestead cattle ranching 
          family, loosely based on his mother's parents.

          greets thousands of people from the four corners of the globe, including 
          celebrities and royalty. This year Sweeney celebrates his 25th year 
          as the doorman at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel

          Up Campaigns 
          Two more candidates, Ron Dudum and Fiona Ma, joined a crowded field 
          of candidates running to replace SF Supervisor Leland Yee in District 
          4, the Sunset District.
