State Orders Sunset Bar to Close for Two Months
The doors of the Sand Bar, a popular neighborhood watering hole in the Outer Sunset District, were finally closed at the end of June after the owners lost a three-year battle with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) for allowing the sale of cocaine on the premises.

Two Major Golden Gate Projects Set to Begin
Those familiar with Golden Gate Park will be noticing some changes this summer. Workers are already making preparations to rehabilitate the ailing North Lake, as the first of two projects by the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department to improve Golden Gate Park. The second project, which is set to begin later this year, includes traffic lane realignment at the park's East Entrance near Stanyan Street.

School District Working to Lower Enrollment at Lincoln
Responding to a barrage of criticism from parents and teachers at two popular west side high schools threatened with overcrowding, school's Superintendent Arlene Ackerman pledged additional resources and pointed to her five-year academic plan for answers.
