Merchants Rally to Slow Plan to Transform Geary
Geary Boulevard merchants held several meetings in October with city officials to address what they perceive as a "rogue" transportation subcommittee trying to undercut their livelihoods.

Cala to Close, Auto Dealer Wants Site to Expand
Cala Foods, located at 4041 Geary Blvd. between Fourth and Fifth avenues, will be closing its doors after more than 20 years of service to the neighborhood. The move comes in wake of The Kroger Company, parent company of Cala Foods, not renewing its lease at the present location. The lease expires in February 2006.

Adobe House Found at El Polin Springs in Presidio
Another issue has been added to a long-standing plan by the National Park Service to develop and restore the Tennessee Hollow Watershed. Research is being conducted to enhance a presentation of early Presidio inhabitants through the excavations of early structures that have been discovered at El Polin Springs at Tennessee Hollow.

Filmmaker's Film to Premier at Film Arts Festival
"Love is blind and lovers cannot see the pretty follies that (they) themselves commit; for if they could, cupid himself would blush." This Shakespeare quote opens French-born filmmaker Deborah Cukierman's short film, "Chronicle of a Love," which will premier in November at the Roxie Cinema as part of the 21st annual Film Arts Festival. The film explores differences between love - the particular instances thereof - and Love - as a concept.
